“Adherence to prescribed glaucoma medications is often poor, and proper adherence can be challenging for patients. We systematically reviewed the literature and identified eight studies using educational interventions
to improve glaucoma medication adherence. Overall, compound screening assay five of the eight studies found that educational interventions lead to a significant improvement in medication adherence, and two additional studies found a trend towards improvement. Using information from this systematic review and Health Behavior Theory, we constructed a conceptual framework to illustrate how counseling and education can improve glaucoma medication adherence.
More rigorous studies grounded in Health Behavior Theory with adequately powered samples and longer follow-up are needed.”
“PURPOSE: To investigate the mechanism of action of the Tetraflex (Lenstec Kellen KH-3500) accommodative intraocular lens (IOL).\n\nMETHODS: Thirteen eyes of eight patients implanted with the Tetrafl ex accommodating IOL for at least 2 years underwent assessment of their objective amplitude-of-accommodation by autorefraction, anterior CX-6258 inhibitor chamber depth and pupil size with optical coherence tomography, and IOL flexure with aberrometry, each viewing a target at 0.0 to 4.00
diopters of accommodative demand.\n\nRESULTS: Pupil size decreased by 0.62 +/- 0.41 mm on increasing accommodative demand, but the Tetrafl ex IOL was relatively fixed in position within the eye. The ocular aberrations of the eye changed with increased accommodative demand, but not in a consistent Selleck GDC-0994 manner among individuals.
