The SECEL, a 35-item patient-reported questionnaire, was designed to address the communication challenges faced by laryngectomy patients. The effort aimed at a Croatian version's translation, cross-cultural adaptation, and validation.
Independent translators first translated the SECEL from English, then a native speaker retranslated it, after which the expert committee finalized the document. 50 laryngectomy patients, who had completed their oncological treatments one year before being recruited to the study, used the Croatian version of the Self-Evaluation of Communication Experiences After Laryngectomy (SECELHR) questionnaire. It was on the same day that patients also completed the Voice Handicap Index (VHI) and the Short Form Health Survey (SF-36). Patients undertook a two-time SECELHR questionnaire administration, the second questionnaire being completed two weeks after the first. Brain amyloid, a prominent indicator of pre-symptomatic Alzheimer's, displays a less-recognized connection to elevated blood pressure values. We sought to examine the relationship between blood pressure and measures of brain amyloid-β (Aβ) and their corresponding standard uptake ratios (SUVRs) in this study. We posited a correlation between elevated blood pressure and higher SUVr values.
We categorized blood pressure (BP) readings, drawing from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) dataset, using the hypertension classification system of the Seventh Joint National Committee (JNC), focusing on their guidelines for prevention, detection, evaluation, and treatment (JNC VII). Relative to the cerebellum, the Florbetapir (AV-45) SUVr measurement was established through the averaging of values obtained from the frontal, anterior cingulate, precuneus, and parietal cortices. A linear mixed-effects model facilitated the understanding of the correlation between amyloid SUVr and blood pressure.
